Share

Ants don’t usually carry diseases, but their numbers can be overwhelming. Ants typically live in underground colonies and eat practically any kind of food, especially sweets.

It’s pretty easy to know if you’re looking at an ant. We have some pretty common nicknames for ants like small, large, brown, and black. However, there are actually more than 700 species of ants in the United States. Twenty-five percent of those commonly infest homes.

Ant Types and Ant Species

Three of the most common ant species are:

Carpenter Ants

These can cause structural damage to your home. They like their nesting sites to be in small crawl spaces, attics, or under insulation.

Odorous House Ants

These ants don’t cause structural damage but can be a nuisance to homeowners. Plants, trees, and shrubs provide a great attraction for places to hang close to your house.

Pavement Ants

Pavement ants nest under rocks and pavement. They can be found around your floors and bathrooms. Watch out as these ants may sting to defend themselves!

These ants all serve different purposes, but can still be pesky around your home! Give us a call today to help eliminate your ant problem. We’re here to help!
